This blog is intended to offer a forum for the many TEFLers in Indonesia who believe that being a token bule in a classroom is demeaning.
A teacher, by definition, has something to offer other than entertainment value. It is my hope that this site will demonstrate the potential for good education that we offer to Indonesians rather than (or in spite of) a substantial profit for the owners of the establishments we work in.
I would be pleased to extend 'membership' to all who wish to contribute.

Great subject matter. I am now in China and interviewers have straight up denied some of my friends jobs in teaching even though they are qualified because they were not bule. in one instance the interviewer straight up asked after noting my friend had a thick american accent what his skin tone was. When he responded brown of indian origin she informed him that they were only looking for white teachers!!! They are reinforcing the idea the locals have that only white people can teach english, even through these other bule bule teachers here should know better about discrimination.
